Who you're dealing with

I'm Ali, and Salis is mine. You get me on the phone, not a call centre, and the person who quotes your job is the person who turns up to do it.

The three trades on this page look unrelated, but they aren't. Ten-odd years in and around the motor trade — selling, buying, running a workshop, writing quotes for insurers — taught me how to assess damage, price a job honestly and chase an approval until someone answers. Carpentry and shopfitting came out of the construction and property side. The common thread is the same either way: measure properly, put the price in writing, and do what you said you'd do.

I work in English and Farsi, which matters to a lot of families around Clayton South and Dandenong who'd rather explain a job in their own language.
